One of this generation’s finest violinists, Daniel John Martin travels from Paris to join some of Cape Town’s best jazz musicians to bring you an evening of swinging violin of the highest calibre! His fingerboard pyrotechnics coupled with his warm charm and stage charisma guarantee an unforgettable evening!

Daniel John Martin (aka ‘DJM’) is a world-renowned Anglo-French violinist and vocalist. One of the most active and valued members of the Paris jazz scene, he was the long-time MC of Gypsy jazz concerts and jams at “Aux petits joueurs”, where you can hear many of the best players in the world, who wander in casually to a play a few numbers. Daniel has worked alongside many of the greats of the jazz manouche world, including Angelo Debarre, Romane, Adrien Moignard and Boulou Ferré. After studying at the famous Paris Conservatoire, and touring and recording with the late great Didier Lockwood, he has released several successful albums, most recently “Parisian Impromptu” with friend and collaborator Mayo Hubert. Recent collaborations with former Miles Davis guitarist Robben Ford have received high acclaim indeed!

Andrew Lilley

Andrew Lilley is a Cape Town-based jazz musician, composer and educator. Born in Cape Town to a musical family of symphony orchestra and gigging musicians, he has played with everyone and anyone in the South African jazz scene and many well-known international players. He is highly regarded as a player and educator. He is currently a professor at the University of Cape Town where he has mentored and taught many of the current players on the South African scene.

Andrew appears on numerous recordings as a sideman and has two albums under his own name. His latest release, ‘Silhouette’, a solo piano album will be released in 2023.
