Charlette Red Duo
Charlette Dickson’s approach is an honest and openhearted conversation with the audience. With the warm colourful tones of her voice. She comes from a charismatic gospel background and that is where she found her voice and passion for music. Singing came so naturally to this soul sister growing up in the church choir at a tender age. Born in Gauteng, she spent most of her childhood living in Gauteng, Zimbabwe and Cape Town. Charlette, has performed, on SABC 3’s Afternoon Express Show, various Cape Winelands Estates, Bastille Day celebrations and Champagne Festivals held in Franschhoek, Robertson’s Wine Festival and spent some time in the Spanish Cannery Islands; Madrid, Spain and Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe. This Jazz and Soul vocalist then returned to South Africa to get some serious training to take her singing to the
next level. She signed up at the University of Cape Town’s College of Music and has shared stages with George Werner, Norman Soul, Ernest Ulster, Alvin Dyers, Mike Rossi, Wesley Rustin, Frank Paco, Alex van Heerden, Willie van Zyl, Ivan Bell, Jack Momple to name a few. She has now also taken on the role of vocal instructor and mentor at a local community music academy. “My life’s journey is a roller-coaster of adventures, valleys and mountain tops but my soul has learnt to speak it’s truth”.
